Santa Visits HACR (Saturday, December 21st, 2024)

Santa's Visit to the Housing Authority in 2024 was so much fun!

Santa visited with 59 kids this year who each took home a brand new free toy and we shared a hot lunch. We're already excited for next year!

Thank you to the Excel Center, the Firefly Family Resource Center, First English Lutheran Church, Ivy Tech, New Deliverance Temple Ministries, and our awesome volunteers for making this special time possible.

This event was open solely to these families currently being served by the HACR, including families living in the Bobby Smith, Southview, Jerry Geier, and Merle Henderson apartments, and recipients of the HACR's Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher. The guardians of each child who received a gift at this event only did so after speaking with staff from HACR, Ivy Tech, and the Excel Center, and visiting a table with information sent by the Firefly Family Resource Center. Information tables shared information with families about programs available including the HACR's Family Self Sufficiency program, free high school for adults through the Excel Center, and spring 2025 courses at Ivy Tech.
