Resident Training and Employment Program
The Housing Authority is proud to work with a wide array of community partners to offer events to our residents that supply information on and engagement with education, training, and employment opportunities.
Since June 2023, residents have been able to attend sessions including:
- Financial aid and the application process at Ivy Tech Community College
- Health insurance navigation with speakers from MDWise, Reid Health, ClaimAid, and ASPIN
- Emergency Preparedness with Open Arms Ministries - Facebook
- Hiring Fairs provided in partnership with Eastern Indiana Works
- Nutrition Education Program (cooking, meal planning, budgeting, taste-testing) registration with the Purdue Extension Office
- Pop-up Richmond Farmers Market, including education on the SNAP Double Dollars program.
HACR provides the opportunity for adults to participate in many programs.
Examples of those programs include:
- A self-defense class for women
- A partnership with the Richmond Police Dept. to develop a multi-family crime-free housing program that includes staff/resident certification
- Healthy Eating Seminar
- Financial Literacy Workshop
If the Housing Authority hears from enough of its residents that they are interested, we will be able to partner with our Purdue Extension Office to offer Free Cooking and nutrition classes based on the eat, gather, go program.
If you are a resident (Section 8 voucher recipient or a resident of Jerry Geier (Westwood), Bobby Smith (Norwood), Southview, or Merle Henderson apartments), please let us know if you're interested or click here to fill out an Interest Form.
